Patch Testing |
Patch testing is used to identify substances that may cause contact dermatitis. During the test, small patches containing potential allergens are applied to the skin, typically on the back, and left in place for 48 hours. After this period, the patches are removed, and the skin is examined for any reactions, which may indicate an allergy. You may then need to attend again after another 48 hours. You cannot shower or wet the area whilst the patches are in place and the test cannot be performed if there is not sufficient skin free of eczema where the patches can be applied. If you would like to arrange this then contact the secretaries of either Dr Ian White, Dr Sarah Wakelin or Dr David Orton directly. You can use this letter as a referral.
